2023 was quite a year for local businesses in South Delta, with many new changes and opportunities knocking on our doors — and Baird & Dupuis was no exception! After working together for three years, we (Jen and Amber) made it official as a realtor duo in 2023, and we couldn’t be more thrilled about everything we’ve accomplished together! 2024 is Amber’s 20th year in real estate (that’s her original business card headshot below!), so let’s cheers to her continued success in the career she loves.
Since a new year is a great time to plan for the future while reflecting on the past, we checked in on some local businesses we’ve featured over the years to see what they've been up to. Read on for some exciting updates!
What’s new with some of the folks previously featured in Neighbourhood News?
Lauren at Glo Laser & Body celebrated her fourth year in business and moved to a new location at 226-1077 56th St. The new clinic continues to offer body laser and sculpting as well as acupuncture and herbology, botox, hypnotherapy and other health and beauty services. Glo recently won a 2024 Canadian Choice Award for Best in laser hair removal Delta. The original location has been transformed into Glo Sun Studio and South Delta local Chantelle Giles has joined Lauren as a business partner at this location.
Dr. Lisa Ghent of Collaborative Wellness also opened a second Delta location across the street at 5074 48 Ave: a calming, spa-like space offering RMT services and more, where patients can book appointments with Kristina Tangaro, Cindy Beatch, and Tyree Hunter.
Writer's Block Solutions’ team has grown to include a digital marketing and tech whiz, and a writer/editor extraordinaire! With their four-woman team and a refreshed website, they’ve expanded their service offerings to include book editing, publishing consultation, social media support, and more!
505-Junk has been busy on the awards circuit, placing no. 364 on The Globe and Mail’s fifth-annual ranking of Canada’s Top Growing Companies and winning the Richmond Chamber of Commerce’s 2023 Mid-Size Business of the Year. Three cheers for this innovative, fast-growing junk removal business!
Good Hound Training has expanded to two locations, recently moving their original ‘downtown’ location to Ladner Village. The new space is triple the size of their previous one, offering more room to play with new equipment, a larger training centre, a retail shop, and grooming services. Bring your pooch to check it out!
Delta Pride Society hosted more events than ever in 2023! In addition to the annual Pride Picnic, they held a Halloween Dance, drag bingo, film screenings, drag shows at the Ladner United Church, the inaugural Pride Carnival, and more! It’s wonderful to see more of these safe and inclusive events in South Delta.
South Delta Watersports opened a paddle shack in Boundary Bay, where adventure-seekers can pick up and drop off inflatable paddleboards and kayaks right on the water. They’re also still offering beachside delivery to Centennial Beach, Deas Island Regional Park, and Metro Vancouver!
bean + butter body snacks’ products are now available at brick and mortar locations, including Makers in Tsawwassen Mills. Swing by the shop to test and sniff their scrumptious vegan-friendly, cruelty-free products before purchasing for you or your loved ones.
The HUB Refillery moved to Southlands Tsawwassen at the end of October 2023. Come check out their fresh new spot at 251 Boundary Bay Rd., unit 107 to fill up on sustainable, locally-sourced products and some gourmet goodies like sourdough bread, samosas, pies, and a variety of gluten-free options!
Speaking of Southlands, Four Winds Brewing is gearing up to open their new location in 2024. This brand spankin’ new brewhouse and restaurant with an outdoor patio has been years in the making. It’ll be an exciting addition to the local brewpub scene — we can’t wait to try some of their new concoctions!
